    • ADVANCED FIGURE PAINTING

    Objective: to master this supreme goal of academic ability - the painting of human form.

    From the demi-corps, or half length figure, students will advance to posing and painting the entire figure with special attention to incorporating academic drawing with impressionistic color.
    COMPOSITION AND ORNAMENTAL DESIGN

    Objective: to develop awareness of the important organizing principles behind image making.

    This course will introduce the fundamental impulse behind all of the arts - "to divide space and ornament" - with emphasis on traditional elements of ornamentation organized into time periods, and culture of origin. Considerations such as open and closed space will be compared between figurative and ornamental patterns.
