GRISAILLE
Objective: to maximize the strengths and subtleties of painting the human form in oil

A treasured ability in many of the world's greatest works of art, this system of underpainting will be taught as an intermediary stage between working from the plaster cast and working directly from life, guided by the same intensive pursuit of form.

PORTRAIT AND FIGURE DRAWING
Objective: to develop proficiency in drawing the human form from life and to consider its applications to meaningful use

Drawing from the live model using a variety of materials in both the traditional freehand and sight-size manner, the creative considerations in establishing pose, lighting, and composition will be examined in detail before proceeding to the finished execution.

MODELLING THE ECORCHE
Objective: to understand the structure and function of the skeleton and superficial muscle groups

A sculptural study to augment the school's regular lectures on anatomy, life size sections of the body will be built up from the armature in plasteline.
